It is no secret I am a huge fan of the La Prairie line so when a new product launches, I am all eyes and ears. Their latest launch for the Summer 2016 is the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Transforming Cream Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($195 for 1 oz), a three-in-one product that sounds perfect for the person who wants it all with little time to spare. Let’s face it, life is challenging enough on a daily basis and La Prairie wants you to know their newest addition to the Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal collection will give you one less thing to worry about. This triple action treatment product combines the benefits of skincare, color and sun protection and comes with an exclusive complexion brush for application. The packaging is nothing short of luxurious; shiny, silver bottle with a pump applicator. It comes in four wearable shades; Rose (10), Nude (20), Beige (30) and Tan (40). All this sounds amazing but the big question is does it deliver for such a steep pricetag? Let me first show you my proud photo shoot then I will give you my unbiased feedback.
How gorgeous is it to look at? Okay, so I am a sucker for glamorous packaging but who isn’t? Back to discussing the actual product. The following is what the company claims this product can do:
*Helps skin adapt to life’s daily stresses that cause signs of aging. Less accumulated damage means a younger look longer
*Guards against UV related damage
*Intuitively balances skin tone with natural-looking color to counteract dullness and signs of fatigue
The above isn’t far fetched or exaggerated as sunscreen does protect our skin from UV damage and there is enough pigment in the formula to balance and even out skin tones. As a matter of fact, I absolutely loved the coverage it provided my skin, even with only one layer of application. With two layers, I had medium coverage when lightly topped with a powder of your choice. I applied this cream after a layer of La Prairie Cellular Radiance Perfecting Fluide Pure Gold (I am seriously obsessed with this product) and opted to use my fingers over the brush (I am a control freak what can I say.) I was sent shades 30 and 40 which are similar but 40 has a warmer, honey undertone vs 30 which is slightly more of a neutral-beige. For now, shade 30 is perfect for my skin (NC 35, Armani LSF 7, Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder in #7 and Laura Mercier Almond Beige) but after I get some color this summer, shade 40 will be perfect.
The above swatches are compared to what I currently use and the former La Prairie Anti-Aging Tinted Suscreen that launched last year but is no longer available as it has been upgraded to this new formula. The two are very different in my opinion as this new cream has more skin benefits and much better coverage. I went through the heat wearing the cream and I had no separation or streaking all day long. It felt hydrating on my skin and looked like second skin but with brilliant coverage.
Verdict? This is a keeper for me. I have been reaching for this more then I had expected and my skin is loving it. It is very expensive but consider it as an investment; sun screen, treatment and a foundation. Have you tried this? I would love to hear your thoughts.
