Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Bronzing Veil In “Tropical Nights”

I know I have been reviewing mostly bronzers lately, but that seems to be theme at most counters and what is on everyone’s mind these days. The bronzer I am reviewing today is Kevyn Aucoin’s Bronzing Veil in Tropical Nights which isn’t new but worth reminding everyone how gorgeous it is. Tropical Nights is the cooler version of the two bronzers in the line, other being Tropical Days, with an ombre color pattern ranging from shimmery beige to deep cool brown thanks to the crystal pigments in bronze, gold and silver.  It is one of those bronzers where you can highlight, contour or bronze depending on where you aim your brush in the palette and you know I love options and diversity.  Here is a look at the palette:

As you can see, the color tone is what puts Bronzing Veil in it’s own category in the world of bronzers.  What has taken me so long to discover this?  Me, the bronzing queen who sniffs out anything that promises me that JLO Glow and a weekend in St. Barts, I must have gotten lost in all the newly launched bronzers, highlighters, shimmers and you name it.  You know what I really like about the Bronzing Veil is that it gives my light/medium olive skin that tends to look sallow if a bronzer is too orange or red, that perfect week after tan that looks healthy and glowy.  In other words, it gives me that glassy sheen on my cheekbones that I have been searching high and low to achieve and now I have and can.  This is the St. Tropez of bronzers, it is a pure brown that won’t turn colors and looks as natural as one can achieve.  I use the lovely Kevyn Aucoin powder brush which picks up just the right amount of pigment and blends beautifully. Below, I compared Tropical Nights to the bronzers I own, some I have reviewed and some I have not.  The point is to see how different Kevyn Aucoin’s bronzer is next to all the other bronzers out there:

Verdict?  If my excitment hasn’t been obvious from the beginning of my review then I am not sure how else to say I really love the Kevyn Aucoin Bronzing Veil in Tropical Nights.  If you have fair skin and would prefer a warmer tone, then I would try “Tropical Days” which is just as pretty and another option.  Darker skin tones can use this as a highlighter on top of the cheekbones and it will look stunning while fair skin can use it as a contour.  Next time you are at a Kevyn Aucoin counter, definitely take a look and see if this works for you. Retails for $48.

  1. omg this looks amazing! I always ignored it thinking it was shimmery, but I think I was so wrong! Btw your bronzer collection is epic – i’ve sort of fallen off the bandwagon with bronzers and haven’t kept up with all the new releases!
