Kevyn Aucoin has launched a three-in-one face palette that promises to have everything you need to achieve that “sun-kissed” look. Introducing The Neo-Bronzer($58), an ombre-inspired palette that houses a highlighter, blush and bronzer all in one. It comes in two shades; Siena (Warm Pink) and Capri (Cool Coral). I immediately fell in-love with both palettes equally as they are so easy on the eyes, especially the color combo. I recently reviewed the By Terry Sun Designer Palettes with enthusiasm and predicted it to be the most ingenious and exciting bronzer of the summer. The Neo-Bronzer by Kevyn Aucoin may not look as unique or art-deco as By Terry’s Sun Designer Palette but that doesn’t mean it is not equally as good. Let us take a closer look at these two bronzers:
The blush and highlighter create a colorful light to the skin while the bronzer adds pure warmth creating all over skin dimension. Capri is described as a cool coral and has a beautiful combo of colors ranging from light, pearly/pink and coral to a beautiful rose/bronze. The level of shimmer is light-medium but not so obvious once it is applied. Some of the shades are semi-matte which is what prevents it from looking too shiny or over-the-top. Let us take a closer look at Capri:
Siena is described as a “warm pink” and has similar tones to Capri but on a warmer level. The bronzer has more dimension with warm rose undertones and the blush is warmer in pink/coral tones. Let us take a closer look:
I used my Suqqu Face Brush to apply The Neo-Bronzer palette. After using a sweeping motion back and forth and making sure I got all the colors on the brush, I used my wrist to shake off any excess powder so I can build up the color. The texture of these bronzers are unbelievably soft with a buttery feel and effortless application. The different tones and shades in each palette is what gives an all-over unique and complete look. How does it compare to By Terry? I find it is silkier in texture and the application is more even because of the smooth surface vs. By Terry’s zig-zag design which I find can challenge the even application. My bronzer lasted a good eight hours without fading or and stayed true to color.
To the naked eye, both look quite similar. The difference is defined once they are swatched side-by-side. Do you need both bronzers? No, that is not necessary. Capri would look good on fair-medium skin tones and Siera medium-darker skin tones. They are identical in pigment and intensity but Capri is cooler in tone compared to Siena.
Verdict? I absolutely love these new bronzers from Kevyn Aucoin. Although the whole “ombre” look has been done, it is more about the quality and colors. I am so impressed with all the new bronzers that have launched for Summer 2016 and this is no exception.
