I absolutely love opening my email and seeing all of your brilliant feedback and lovely comments! Keep ’em coming! You ask the questions and I’ll be here with the answers! Don’t you worry, I’ve got your back… and face… and lips… and eyes… and you get the point!
A lot of you have been asking about oils and I want to take the time to really dive in to some of my favorite picks. There are so many different products out there to choose from. Separating the good from the bad… well that’s the tricky part. Aside from knowing what to apply, knowing when to apply it makes all the difference.
Oils have been a huge part of my daily routine for the past three decades, and I’m not about to give them up! (I’ll never know why everyone doesn’t use them!)
Let’s dish about one of my personal favorites, Black Rose Precious Face Oil by Sisley Paris (not seen here). Created specifically for dry and aging skin, Black Rose nourishes the skin and restores its youthfulness. It’s a bit on the pricey side (it’s oh so worth it… and so are you!) but it delivers immediate, radiant results. The dry oil is silky smooth and glides right on, preparing your skin to see maximum benefits from your daily skin regimen. A little goes a long way and the velvety finish has a “dry oil” feel which translates into softer and glowing skin. I am on bottle number 8 and have no plans to stop (duty free is where I usually stock up.)

When I was initially sent 3LAB’s Anti-Aging Oil and saw the price tag of $300 I was alarmed… but intrigued. While testing it out I felt like I was slightly “cheating” on my Sisley Black Rose Oil, but told myself I am doing this for ‘research & development’. After 6 weeks of use (which included going out in snowstorms and windshield factors of -20) I can confidently say that this oil lives up to its claims. Three years in the making, founder and creator, Erica Chung, took her cue from one of the greatest beauties in history – Cleopatra. It’s rumored this timeless beauty used gold to help keep her looking young with radiant skin. If it’s good enough for Cleopatra, it’s good enough for us Gypsies! The unique blend of ingredients, which includes a nice 24kt bonus, produces a strong anti-aging oil which tightens and smooths the skin. Just a couple drops of this oil, and you’ll feel the magic.

Oily skin getting you down? Then you’ve got to try Restorsea Liquid Gold Face Oil. When I was sent this oil (I was bold enough to specifically ask for it) my initial reaction was… this isn’t Sisley. Its consistency was watery and it seemed counterproductive. That’s when I realized I needed to shake it well for the the water and oil to mix. My mind was quickly changed – what a difference!. It felt like the elasticity in my skin came back to life. I felt as hydrated as if I drank a gallon of water; my skin looked hydrated and plumped. I also loved the fact that I could use it as a stand-alone product or with a light foundation. It is a perfect oil for the summer and great for dehydrated or combination skin. Another serum with 24kt gold which leaves you feeling like the queen you are. This product tackles the problem of oily skin by using oils. Yes, you read that right! The result is balanced, radiant, hydrated (not oily) skin. This formula will have you saying ‘see ya later’ to dry, flaky skin and hello to lush, radiant skin.

A budget minded option, Eve Lom Radiance Face Oil, will leave you feeling refreshed all day long. Lightweight and never heavy, this versatile product is the perfect combination of 8 essential oils, including Hemp Seed Oil, Abyssinian Oil, and Avocado Oil. It’s great for all types of skin and really hydrates and smooths your complexion. It defies the effects of aging by keeping dryness at bay, leaving your skin youthful and sharp. All this and you walk away smelling like a rose! This oil is good for anyone who wants a good, basic oil without breaking the bank. It reminds me of my past holy grail Decleor Neroli Oil which was my go to for 10 over years.

I’m still going…! I can’t help it — I love oils.
Get a good night’s sleep with Revive’s Anti-Aging Oil (not seen here). The oil says it works for all skin types but I beg to differ. Although I loved it when I had those days I overused my Retinol and my skin was dry and peeling… it is not for anyone who has normal/combo/oily skin — in my opinion. It has a unique feel almost like a ‘light balm’ which could double as a light mask. This oil is great for the winter months and for those of you with very dry skin. The oil is silky smooth and leaves your skin feeling just the same. Working overtime while you sleep, you’ll look as if you’ve spent the weekend at the spa, or at the very least like you got an extra hour of sleep!

Giorgio Armani Supreme Recovery Oil’s packaging is a reflection of Armani’s ‘classic and luxurious’ look for the sophisticated women. It has a ‘dry oil’ composition which is rich enough to be used on its own or with a light moisturizer (unless you have very dry skin, in which case a heavier moisturizer would be recommended). I use this on nights when my skin feels dried out and want to keep my routine short and simple. While it is an oil, it applies to the skin almost as a dry, yet soft, velvet. Don’t worry about adding extra oil to your skin, just relax and bask in its benefits. The end result is smooth, moisturized skin that leaves you feeling and looking vibrant, fresh, and younger.

While this oil is dry, it leaves your skin feeling anything but dried out. La Prairie Cellular Swiss Ice Crystal Oil is a state-of-the-art oil product which seals in moisture leaving your skin feeling luxurious. You know I am a huge fan of La Prairie (I like to think of myself as their brand ambassador… in my own fantasy world) but this oil took a while to get used to. After I almost gave up on it, I was told to mix it with my favorite moisturizer and it will have a unique texture that penetrates beautifully into the skin. Guess what? They were right! I absolutely prefer it with a moisturizer mixed in. In my opinion it truly makes all the difference in the world. It’s lightweight and effortlessly merges with your skin with the softest of touches. The oil smooths the skin and fights dryness all while providing a layer of protection between you and the elements.

La Mer Oil is a widely popular oil from the cult following brand “La Mer” (I am not a cult follower, but a permanent observer). For years it has held a place in bathroom vanities of models, influencers and jet setters. I finally caved in and bought it in Europe (love de tax) and couldn’t wait to try it. Did it live up to the hype? Yes and no. It really is a good oil but I am not sure I would repurchase when there are other oils which I truly love much more. I do think it has a slightly ‘dry oil’ feel and really does the job without causing me to break out or clog my pores. I will let you decide if its right for you!

As I mentioned above, oils are an essential part of my daily routine, and I truly value having a quality product. Everyone’s skin is a different and but there is the right oil out there for everyone. With todays advanced research and technology, options are endless and results are amazing. Everything on this list is A-rated by me and delivers the whole shebang… and more. I would love to hear what your favorite skin oil is or if you don’t have one, a skin product that has been a staple for you. Love hearing your thoughts and feedback, after all, this is a beauty community where we all learn from each other.
