Chanel 2014 Summer collection looks to be promising and satisfying everyone’s appetite for exciting and fun colors. One of the products in the collection is Le Blush Creme in Cheeky 79($39 for 0.09 oz), a cream to powder cheek color described as “bronze with a rose tint.” The texture, pigment and choice of colors of all the Chanel creme blushes are phenomenal and adding this new shade in cheeky is a perfect color for summer. My first instinct was it looked almost identical to the previous color in the collection in destiny (review HERE) and hesitated to purchase it. What changed my mind? I swatched Cheeky on my hand and saw more of a cool toned shade compared to Destiny and went for it. This post is not to remind you how great Chanel’s Le Blush Creme formula is but to compare it to Destiny and have you decide if you need both shades. I will let you be the judge.
Cheeky and Destiny in the photos above look almost identical but on the skin the difference becomes apparent. On my light/olive medium skin with yellow undertones, Destiny appears a bit too warm on the peachier side and stronger in color whereas Cheeky is a neutral medium bronze that leans towards the neutral/cool side thanks to the rose undertones. Application can be achieved using your fingers or a brush depending on your preference and the look you are going for. I personally prefer using my fingers to get a more natural bronzy glow whereas I find the brush can pick up a lot of color and it can potentially look a bit too heavy in color. It is optional to use this on bare skin or over foundation but bare skin just doesn’t work for me as my skin needs some coverage and it looks uneven and spotty. My perfect formula for the image below was using Eve Lom tinted moisturizer, Cheeky Creme Blush using my fingers and topped it off with Eve Lom Mineral Powder (review to follow) and voila..a long lasting, very natural bronzy glow.
Verdict? The formula is the best on the market and this new shade is absolutely perfect for me. Fair skin can use this for contouring and darker skin tones for a medium toned bronzed cheek color. The beauty of this you really can control the look you want and the amount of color you desire, its a great product and the perfect cream bronze if you don’t care for powder bronzers. I personally prefer Cheeky over Destiny if I had a choice now but you decide if you need both. Another great shade from Chanel!
