Hello ladies. I was lucky enough to attend the unveiling of “The New Foundation” at Barneys NY on Madison Avenue. The renovation of the beauty department that has taken place since earlier this year, has been transformed and reborn. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing to the eye, but they have added new lines and vendors that made the waiting time well worth it!
The Barneys New York team collaborated on both projects with Steven Harris Architects, an award winning New York-based architectural design firm known for its comprehensive visions on both public and private commissions, to create these exciting new beauty destinations. The Beverly Hills store, in its first expansion and most significant renovation since its opening in 1993, will add an additional 8,000 square feet of retail space and treatment rooms with the opening of the lower level. As a result, the Beverly Hills main floor will see an increased footprint for shoes, handbags, accessories and jewelry which will begin renovation in early 2014. At Madison, the renovated floor, which added 1,000 square feet, is the continuation of a three-year evolution of the New York flagship, which includes an expanded ground floor, women’s and men’s fifth, sixth, and eighth floors, and more in its scope.
In addition to the overall renovation, Barneys New York will introduce exciting super-luxe treatment experiences in both locations. At the Madison Avenue flagship, Barneys New York has collaborated with hair stylist and salon owner Valery Joseph to develop B3 Barneys Blow Bar by Valery Joseph, a full-service blow dry bar with top stylists and seven stations offering blowouts, cuts, extensions, and more. In addition, skincare expert Mila Moursi has partnered with Barneys New York for a Mila Moursi Skincare Institute, offering facials, body treatments, massages and other services. Resident makeup artist Jason Ascherand brow specialist Robert Sweet William will continue to offer their acclaimed services as well.
Mila Moursi, a French Moroccan facialist, had such a mellow and zen aura about her. Her knowledge about skin was obvious but her passion for making women look and feel younger and more beautiful was evident to everyone in the room. She shared her story about the first time she experienced a “mud bath” back home and that was when she knew she wanted to be in this field. She is excited about her full line of skincare and looks forward to educating the Barneys women on how to properly care for their skin.
With A New Foundation, Barneys New York will also continue to focus on the discovery of new talent and the addition of even more XO (Exclusively Ours) names in the beauty space. The new floors will launch many exciting new products, including a brand new color line by makeup artist Troy Surratt.
Greg Lauren, the handsome, almost perfect looking human being, confidently discussed the new fragrances he has created for Barneys. He admitted that although fragrance is not what he was trained in (he is an actor and artist), he is learning every step along the way and enjoying every minute of it. He is proud of his new creation and is thrilled to be debuting it at Barneys NY.
The event also had the one and only Poppy King, queen of lipsticks. This quirky blonde, with her signature red lips, was enthusiastic and had such great energy about her, a perfect fit for Barneys. She started out with Barneys long ago and has maintained a great relationship till now.
Fredric Malle, the charming french perfumer, graced out with his presence, knowledge and wittiness. I enjoyed listening to him talk about how he views the world of fragrance and how his grandfather was the founder of Parfums Christian Dior.
It was evident we had a legend in the room and Barneys was proud to carry his line. Not only has he created world famous fragrances but Mr. Malle seems to also be in touch with the environment and customer demands. He just launched “Rubber Incense” (not shown), a high-tech version of classic lavender sachet which fits small spaces liek closets dressing rooms or car interiors. More on this later but wanted to give you some “inside info” and another reason to shop at Barneys.
Overall, I couldn't have been more pleased to see the debut of “The Foundation” at Barneys NY. It's edgy, modern and most importantly, very welcoming. Barneys has always been my escape and fantasy for cutting edge products and they never disappoint. It is almost like they travel all over the world and bring us the best and most exclusive products all under one roof. The fact that Valery Joseph Salon will be providing services like “Silk Nano Treatment, extensions, Kerastaste Treatments and the basic cut/blow dry is enough to make any women hop in the taxi and get beautified. Barneys has obviously been listening to what a women wants and needs, and although it doesn't come cheap (Up Do's are $200) its about convenience and knowing you are in good hands with a staff that has been carefully hand picked by the best.
My next step is to actually get all these services done and report back to all my readers, so keep checking in! A special thank you to Barneys NY for letting Beautygypsy be part of this amazing event! My loyalty will be never questioned:)
